Net Zero

Our Journey to Net Zero Carbon

Reaching net zero requires a clear understanding of where emissions arise and where meaningful reductions can be made. Optima measures and reports its quantifiable Scope 1 and 2 emissions, alongside a growing proportion of Scope 3 emissions, to build a more accurate picture of its carbon impact.

Because most of Optima’s total emissions sit within the supply chain, progress depends on better data, closer supplier engagement and practical action across materials, manufacturing, transport and installation.

Our Net Zero Strategy

Our approach is built around three principles: eliminate emissions where they can be designed out, reduce energy use through greater efficiency, and substitute carbon-intensive materials and technologies with lower-carbon alternatives.

This includes monitoring energy use, investing in more efficient equipment, increasing renewable electricity use and working with suppliers to improve activity data and identify opportunities for carbon reduction. Progress is reviewed through Optima’s environmental management and reporting processes.

  • Aluminium with 75%+ Recycled Content

Optima’s extruded aluminium contains a minimum of 75% post-consumer recycled content and has an embodied carbon value below 1.9 kg CO₂e per kg. Approved sources currently achieve verified values of 1.62–1.86 kg CO₂e per kg.

Turning strategy into action

Work is already underway across Optima’s operations. Our manufacturing facility in Radstock has 570 solar photovoltaic panels with a stated capacity of 285 kWp, while the remaining electricity is sourced through REGO-certified renewable energy.

Further measures include air source heat pumps, heat recovery, energy sub-metering, more efficient powder-coating ovens and the replacement or conversion of diesel forklift trucks. Alongside these operational changes, Optima continues to work with key suppliers to improve emissions data and support lower-carbon decision-making across the supply chain.
