Reducing impacts during delivery and installation

Minimising energy consumption during delivery and install

The environmental impact of a partitioning system extends beyond material production and manufacturing. Delivery planning, product protection, installation methods and site waste management all influence the resources and emissions associated with project delivery.

Our approach focuses on transporting products efficiently, reducing avoidable journeys, protecting components from damage and limiting material waste during installation.

Reducing packaging impact

We use recyclable cardboard and paper-based protection wherever appropriate. The shrink wrap used for individual profiles is made from 100% recycled plastic and can be recycled after use.

On applicable projects, Proplex RE protection sheets can be collected and returned through a closed-loop recycling process. Reusable Door Stillage Trolleys also replace single-use timber pallets and allow more doors to be transported in each delivery.

Planning deliveries efficiently

Delivery quantities and schedules are coordinated around the requirements of each project. This helps make effective use of vehicle capacity while supporting the programme and storage constraints of the site.

Optima’s reusable Door Stillage Trolleys are designed to protect doors during transport and site storage. Their increased loading capacity, compared with traditional trolleys, allows more products to be carried per delivery where project conditions permit.

Measuring delivery impacts

Optima can provide records of products supplied, material quantities and deliveries to support project reporting. Depending on the project, this information may contribute to embodied-carbon calculations, whole-life assessments or contractor environmental reports.

Improving the quality of transport data also supports our wider Scope 3 reporting, providing a clearer understanding of emissions associated with logistics and purchased materials.

Measuring delivery impacts

Moving towards lower-carbon transport

Optima has begun transitioning company vehicles to electric and plug-in hybrid models.

Our Net Zero Carbon Strategy also identifies further actions, including the development of a sustainable travel policy and working with logistics partners to encourage the use of electric delivery vehicles.

Moving towards lower-carbon transport

A more considered approach to project delivery

Reducing impact during delivery and installation depends on careful planning at each stage. By coordinating deliveries, improving loading efficiency, selecting lower-impact packaging and managing materials responsibly on site, we aim to reduce avoidable journeys, waste and replacement while providing the information clients need for project reporting.
